This vegan coffee smoothie is rich, creamy and utterly delicious. Made with cold brewed coffee, dairy free milk, banana and nut butter it's a satisfying and filling drink or snack.

I love how easy this coffee smoothie is to make. It’s a great one to make mid morning, especially if you’ve let your morning coffee go cold. Or perhaps you’ve brewed a cafetière and not finished it.

Either way making a smoothie is a great way to use it up and not waste that precious coffee.

Frozen bananas

You will need to have a frozen banana to add to the smoothie. Freezing chopped up ripe bananas is always a good idea anyway. It stops you wasting them and makes a smoothie extra creamy.

If you don’t have a frozen banana you could add a couple of ice cubes instead - together with an unfrozen banana - but it’ll be a bit less creamy. Still delicious though.

Can I brew coffee especially to make this smoothie?

Yes - but you will need to let it cool down before making the smoothie.

Can I freeze brewed coffee?

You can freeze coffee. It may lost some of its taste but it will work perfectly for a coffee smoothie. You could even freeze it into an ice cube tray and add those directly to your blender.

I do this to make iced coffee in summer too:

What ingredients do you need to make coffee smoothie?

You will need the following ingredients:

  • 250 ml cold black coffee
  • 250 ml oat milk or other dairy free milk
  • 1 frozen banana, chopped (if your banana isn't frozen then add some ice cubes)
  • 2 tablespoons nut butter - I prefer almond butter but peanut and cashew butter also work well.
  • 1 tablespoon flax seeds (linseeds), optional

Do you need any special equipment to make this?

You will need a high powered blender* to make this smoothie recipe.
