Guide to seasonal vegetables - August

potatoes, lettuce, carrots, broad beans, radishes, onions and tomatoes - august seasonal vegetables

See which vegetables are in season in the month of August. Get the best flavour and value for money by eating seasonal vegetables this August.

Vegetables taste better when eaten in season. Plus they're less likely to have been imported and are therefore better for the environment too.

If you sign up to an organic vegetable box or bag scheme you will probably be eating seasonally anyway. If not, look out for the vegetables below in your local greengrocer or supermarket.

Here is the northern hemisphere, while we're at the height of summer, you'll find that August has some of the best vegetables available.

*If you live elsewhere in the northern hemisphere you will have similar vegetables in season. However, there will be regional differences in the kinds of vegetables that grow in your area. If you’re in the southern hemisphere then you will be in the middle of winter while we’re at the height of summer.
